“Shshsh.” she hushed him bashfully, not being able to come up with any witty comeback to his soft amusement directed at her, as Maya couldn’t explain what came over her either. Maya also couldn’t properly respond to his offer for dinner, mainly because Zig seemed to have plans he intended to go through with whether she agreed to it or not. Quite honestly, Maya preferred it much this way. The element of not knowing where’d they’d go and what they’d do was what made the date in general all the more exciting. Maya was on her feet at Zig’s request and moved in the motion of his finger gesture, but began to grow confused as he put her back onto the bench where she was standing this time. Though in mere moments she understood his intentions completely, and just went with it as he asked her to. “You make me feel like such a munchkin.” She said, feigned hurt tainting her voice as she settled herself onto his back like a child. At first, like with basically everything, Maya was cautious. No, she was sure he wouldn’t drop her. But she couldn’t help but to think about how painful it’d be to actually be dropped on one of these decks. Though still, the chances of him letting her go seemed very unlikely so as long as her skirt didn’t rise up too high or her hat didn’t fly off she’d probably be fine.
Once they started moving, Maya’s grip on his shoulder tightened. “If you drop me, I’m bringing you down with me. I’m not lying, I will drag you down like the walls of Jericho.” She threatened, but then tilted her head slightly to place a small kiss on the side of his neck so he’d know she was joking for the most part. He couldn’t see her face at this angle, and the tone in her voice would only help him determine so far. After this, she remained quiet and kept herself distracted by observing the expressions of the people whose attention was caught by the two teenagers. Occasionally, she’d catch one of those “grow up” or “how old are you, six?” chronic bitch faces from people their age walking by with their friends or uptight adults enjoying a stroll with the family. Maya paid them no mind, and simply gave curt smiles to the people who didn’t look as disapproving though continued to stare (plus the momentary silly expressions she’d make at small children). “Where exactly are we going?” She asked curiously, finally diverting her gaze from a tourist couple who were animatedly arguing near a bus stop about something silly like directions. Suddenly, Maya began marveling at how her boyfriend had actually managed to carry her this long. “If I’m starting to hurt you, you can let me down.” She said, not wanting him to feel like he was pressured to carry her all the way. And though these means of piggyback transportation was a fun experience, she didn’t want to continue the moment if she was the only one getting some sort of positive feeling out of it.
“Walls of wha..?” the young boy trailed off in confusion, his brows furrowing together. He shook his head to rid the weird word from his mind, knowing full and well he didn’t have the slightest clue about what she’d said.. and if she did try explaining it to him, he still wouldn’t. That’s usually how it went with Zig, in one ear and out the other except the things he considered to be important from her; that was mostly just the things about her, her family, what she liked, etc. ”Downtown.” Zig’s answer was simple and a coy, unseen grin slipped onto his lips as he walked back down the sidewalk in which they came from just an hour or so ago. ”You’re like five pounds, there’s no way you could hurt me,” Zig reminded her with a soft laugh, continuing to walk forward. It was true, he could hardly even feel the girl on his back due to the fact that she was both short and scrawny, something that he was quite grateful for at this moment in time. “Unless you gave me a nice kick to the balls but I’d probably be really mad at you if you did that and then you’d get dropped.”
Dundas Square was a totally different environment at night; from the locals to the tourists to the sidewalk performers either breakdancing or playing drums for money, it was all different. That’s what he loved most about living here - every trip downtown was different. Even if they were just there earlier that day, it was different this time. Except, of course, the same old man yelling about Jesus on the corner of the street, though Zig had easily learned to completely block his voice from his mind whenever he came downtown. “I said it was your choice.. so.. pick,” Zig said as they reached the lively area, gently sliding her off of his back. “There’s the Hard Rock Cafe, Pickle Barrel, something in the Eaton Centre, La Vecchia Ristorante, et cetera, et cetera,” he began listing off the different restaurants, his hands pointing in all different directions towards each of them. “It doesn’t matter to me what we eat as long as it isn’t fish or something. Other than that, my stomach is like a garbage disposal.. but you already know that.”

Maya’s eyes flashed again from the water to Zig’s face that briefly faltered in slight guilt, and before he could say anything Maya was prepared to shush him the minute he’d start apologizing. Though he didn’t seem to say anything, and with a quick not of the head she and him were strolling back together towards a place where Maya didn’t know. For she was the one being lead. “Oh, trust me I know I’m nothing like her- in all good and bad aspects. I just wanted you to know that if you ever thought of me and her being similar, or if we wanted the same things from you, that isn’t true. I mean, if it was truly real between you and her and not just some classic immature middle school match, the only thing her and I would have in common was that we both just wanted you to begin and end with, Novak.” She finished her statement with a small smile before sitting herself down at the bench he had chosen as a sitting point to fit her comfort zone, which the young girl appreciated so much. Once feeling his hands brush against the skin of her neck to clasp her necklace together, small goosebumps spread along the surface like fire being set to a trail of gasoline. And it wasn’t uncomfortable in the slightest.
And the cool sensation of the chain slid across her neck, tickling her nerves and causing her to again let out a few sensitive giggles. She looked down at the purple tint in the silver heart that now rested against her own, the color magnifying itself for a millisecond as small beads of light hit it. Her attention was distracted by the way the colors moved in motion and reaction to the light, that she had only picked up half of what Zig had said, but quickly managed to put her half-assed observatory together and realize he was bringing up the pool party. For a couple moments, Maya asked herself the same question; did she even want to go? The entire concept of her going there was pretty stupid. First off, she and Tori weren’t exactly on the best terms. Second, these kind of parties were never exactly Maya’s scene. And third, the young girl couldn’t even be above a body of water without going into complete killjoy mode. Though Zig was correct about a pool being much different from a lake or ocean, she’d be expected to swim. All of these points made totally valid sense in Maya’s head, but that big epidemic of a thought that had crossed her mind a few minutes prior to this moment seemed to stop her negative answer.
The way Zig would endure hours of boring lectures about books or music to make her happy, or how he’d be so patient with her when she couldn’t bring herself to do things like a proper person, Maya would do for him if it was ever required. And going to this pool party because he asked would be an example of such. “Yeah.” Maya nodded, not completely sure of this but sure enough to know that it would make Zig happy and hence, at least a small feeling of happiness in return, “I’ll be going.” Without even allowing him to speak another word or think a single thought, Maya leaned up to kiss him; this time intending for it to last longer than it normally would when standing up. At least when sitting down, her toes would not go painfully sore from the weight being pushed against them. Her lips clashed with his, and instantly the world around her seemed to move slower and yet quicker at the same time. Maya’s tongue instinctively maneuvered itself through her boyfriend’s parted lips to run along his own tongue sensually. At one point, she’d shuffle a little closer to him so their bodies were basically touching, making her feel more comfortable to let her hands wander from her sides to the back of his head. Running her fingers along his scalp and through his dark hair, Maya pulled at it lightly every time he’d return an action made in the kiss. This continued for a few minutes until the atmosphere had gotten so heavy that she had to pull away to properly breathe again. “So, what now?” Maya asked exasperatingly, her heartbeat returning to its normal pace under the cold yet fitting texture of the necklace that she would probably find herself never taking off for the rest of the summer.
Zig watched his girlfriend debate with herself on whether or not she wanted to go to the pool party and prepared himself for her negative response to it. But instead, she said she’d go despite the doubt lacing her voice and actions. Before he could even tell her she didn’t have to if she didn’t want to, her lips were crashing against his. He let his eyes slowly shut, allowing her tongue entrance to his mouth as his hands slid down to grab hold of her slender waist. It was definitely the type of kissing they only did in private with each other, though Zig was getting too into it to even care if various passerby’s saw them. if anything, they’d just call them typical teenagers and roll their eyes, continuing on with their day.
Zig was glad Maya pulled away from the kiss, knowing that if it were up to him he wouldn’t have been able to himself. A chuckle escaped him as he stared down at the girl, his lips tugging into a hidden grin as he caught his own breath. He leaned back against the bench until he was comfortably, lifting a hand to slick his hair back and then run through it. “I don’t know,” he mumbled, turning to face her with an bigger grin. “If you’re hungry, we can go back downtown and get something to eat. Your choice, if you don’t put on a show like that again for everyone.” The sky wasn’t as orange as before, the sun even closer to setting as the dark blue sky mixed with the seemingly endless pink, fluffy clouds. Without waiting for an answer, one Zig already knew considering she’d been with him for hours and they hadn’t had anything except soda, popcorn, and candy from the movies, he pushed himself off of the bench.
“Hop up,” he commanded, using his finger as if to control Maya into standing up. Once she did so he gently picked her up and placed her on the bench, scrunching his face up at her for a moment. “I had to put you up here because you’re too short otherwise,” he explained, adjusting his messenger bag over his shoulder as he turned around to face the water. He took a step back until his legs were hitting the bench, quickly patting his shoulders to tell her to jump onto his back. “I can’t promise that I won’t drop you, though,” he told her softly, another chuckle leaving him. As she climbed onto his back and wrapped her arms loosely around his neck, his hands moved down his sides to hook underneath her knees. After making sure she was sturdy against him, he began to walk away from the dock and back into the city.
